Property Agent Licences and Certificates of RegistrationIn New South Wales, Australia new qualification requirements for all licences and certificates issued under the Property Stock and Business Agents Act 2002 commenced on 19 June 2009. 

Details about the requirements as well as information about the work permitted by the holder of each type of licence is accessible at the Office of Fair Trading.

Levies charged by local councils on housing development

Local infrastructure contributions reviewNSW Planning Minister, Kristina Keneally announced the final results of a review into the levies charged by local councils on housing development.

In December last year, the Government announced that it would reduce State infrastructure levies by up to $27,000 and introduce a $20,000 per lot threshold for council levies.

As a result of the review, twelve councils will now be reducing their levies to below $20,000 per block, with another appearing likely.

RBA decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 3.0 per centThe global economy is stabilising, after a sharp contraction in demand during the December and March quarters.  Downside risks to the outlook have diminished, with conditions in global financial markets improving this year and action to strengthen balance sheets of key financial institutions under way. Growth in China has strengthened considerably, which is having an impact on other economies in the region, including Australia.  Read the rest »
